"Commonly known as The Equitable Building, One Custom House Street was first constructed in 1872, one of the first structures to use a "cast iron" façade in Providence. Its internal structure is comprised of old world four inch square wooden planks salvaged from early 19th century sailing vessels."

The design for this project is rooted in the history of Providence. The city has lead a rich path through industry over the years, particularly in wool and steel. Elements of recycled wood and iron punctuate different spatial qualities with which to weave the building together (circulation horizontally / built-in bookshelf and end table vertically). This is meant to embody the warps and wefts of worsted wool.
